A curated list of my blog posts, sorted here by theme. This is a repository for musings about my adventure in learning photography, thoughts on photography technique, and personal stories from my life in Alaska and my passion for photography.
Adventure Stories
Three Days at Spencer Glacier
Spencer Glacier is a relatively accessible and spectacular location in the Alaska backcountry that is accessed from a whistle stop off the Alaska Railroad. With a stunning glacier, and lake dotted with icebergs, it is hard to image a more ideal location for backpacking, packrafting, SUPing and more. Read about our adventure and watch the film.
Ice to Ocean: A Packraft Journey
Packrafting in our Alpacka packrafts from the toe of Exit Glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska all the way to the sea. Read about our day of paddling and watch the video.
Photography Locations
An easy-to-access (by Alaska standards) outdoor recreation paradise complete with hiking trails, jagged peaks, beautiful streams, a classic lodge, and, of course, many many opportunities for photography
Surrounded by jagged peaks, the Eagle River carves an amazing course through a deep canyon with an easy-to-access trail and several campsites and yurts to stay in. Just watch for bears and moose!
A great place to unplug and unwind in Resurrection Bay near Seward, Alaska.
An incredible wonderland near Homer, Alaska. On this trip we stayed at Kayak Beach Yurt and climbed Grace Ridge.
Incredible vistas of wildlife and one of the world's highest, most prominent and iconic mountains.
A large, easily accessible lake near the City of Anchorage provides plenty of opportunities to bike, hike, run, kayak, and take photos
Musings on Photography
The aurora borealis are an elusive but incredible phenomena. Photographing the northern lights is a worthy and rewarding challenge for any photographer.
Long exposure photography is nothing new but it sure was a way for me to re-vitalize my photography
Infrared photography is a great way to explore a new and hidden wavelength of light. It's a fun creative facet in photograhy and the results can be amazing!
Stay tuned for more posts!
